Welcome to March’s Treehouse Tales

We’ve been thrilled by the overwhelming response to our inaugural edition of TreeHouse Tales, and the best part? We’re just getting started!

March marked a transformative period for MTH as our new House Coordinators hit the ground running- initiating activities and building relationships within Participants’ homes. Notably, one of our Participants transitioned into their new ILO home, equipped with personalised support. Additionally, we facilitated two RESPITE stays, having our accessible van booked out each weekend… and warmly welcomed a new COS to the MTH family- stay tuned for the introduction in Aprils Edition of Treehouse Tales!

Let’s chat goal setting

Effective Goal Setting for NDIS Participants

Goal setting is key to maximising the benefits of the NIDS. Here are a few of our favourite tips to set and achieve personal goals in an effective way!

  1. Define a clear goal you would like to work towards. This could be a brainstorming session with family and friends. Think about your future and what you would like to be able to achieve and think about what isn’t currently working.
  2. Make your goals: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time-Bound. You can use any framework to set your goals- this is our suggestion. You can set your goals in parts: 1 week from now, 2 weeks from now for example, whatever feels most comfortable for you.
  3. From those goals identify which goals are more important to you and what you’d like to achieve first. Remember to review your goals often and track your progress to see if you need to shift anything, this allows for continual progress.
  4. Break down your goals into smaller goals- the steps you need to work towards reaching your goal. For example- if your goal is to work in a coffee shop a training course could be a step towards then end goal of working as a barista.
  5. Collaborate with providers that align with your goals and their support and recourses that will allow you to reach your target.
  6. Review and adjust your goals as needed. Remember to not be hard on yourself if things aren’t going to plan, help is always on hand!
  7. REMEMBER TO CELEBRATE YOUR ACHIEVEMENTS NO MATTER HOW BIG OR SMALL! This is a great motivation tool.

Tasty treats in the TreeHouse by Adrian

Coconut cookies

Ingredients

2x Cups- Coconut flakes. 1x Cup- Cashews. 1x Cup Pecans. 1x Cup Chocolate Chips. 1x Condensed Milk

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 175 degrees.
  • Line an oven safe tray with baking paper.
  • Get a large bowl.
  • To the bowl add Coconut flakes, cashews, pecans (cup up), chocolate chips and mix together.
  • Slowly pour in the condensed milk into the cookie mix and stir in. The consistency should be stringy (you will not need all of the condensed milk.)
  • Roll into small balls and place on to baking tray.

If you want to jazz these cookies up you can add almost anything into them- nuts, white chocolate chips, sultanas.
