Welcome to April’s Treehouse Tales

Feeling that crispness in the air? It looks like the weather is really starting to cool down! Farewell summer and hello to hot chocolates, soups and fireplaces.
So, what’s been happening?
We have welcomed 4 new support staff (with more to still come), a new Admin Officer as well as an Admin Assistant. We completed two RESPITE stays at our Cameron Park and Birmingham Garden placements.
We are still on the lookout for a CoS (if you think this could be you be sure to reach out to hello@mytreehouse.com.au.)
Ways MTH recommends you and your network circle can stay safe with the cooler weather incoming:
- Get Vaccinated.
- Practise good hygiene- using sanitizer if soap and water are not accessible.
- Cover your mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing into a tissue or your elbow to prevent the spread of germs.
- Avoid close contact with someone who is unwell to reduce your risk of contact illness.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces like doorknobs and light switches.
- Stay home if feeling unwell.
- Practise respiratory etiquette such as wearing a mask and keep distance if out and about.
- Boost your immune system by eating right, getting enough sleep, managing stress to ensure your immune system is staying strong to fight infections. For further defence have a go at making Adrian’s flu remedy (a bonus recipe in Adrian’s tasty treats.)
Our new friendly office face!
- Meet the bubbly and vibrant Emilly!
- How long have you been in the admin industry? I have been working in various avenues of administration for a few years now!
- What made you get into the disability sector? I have several loved ones who are disabled, and from being so close and loving them it gave me an understanding for autonomy, ethical manners, and advocating for those who may be unable to, or need a hand to do so. I wanted to translate my care and passion for the disability sector into a career.
- Favourite way to spend your weekend? My favourite way to spend my weekends is cosying up on the couch, snuggling with my two cats: Aela & Atreus, watching TV or playing PS5.
- Favourite snack? To be honest, I rather eat as many meals as possible like pasta, rather than just a snack lol, but I love a berry Danish.
Tips for maximizing your NDIS Funding
Navigating NDIS funding can be daunting, but with right approach and assistance we can help unlock its full potential. Here are some key tips.
- Know your needs and have a clear understanding of them as well as your goals. Whether it’s assistive technology, personal care, or therapeutic services, identifying your priorities will guide your funding decisions.
- Be organized and plan ahead! For your meetings have relevant information about your disability, support needs and goals for the future. Consider what has worked well in the past and what areas require additional supports.
- Advocate for yourself and don’t be afraid to speak up during meetings and express your preferences and concerns and ensure your plan reflects your needs and preferences.
- Understand your plan once its renewed and released. If there is anything you don’t understand don’t hesitate to ask for help from your CoS, planner or one of MTH’s management staff. Understanding your plan will empower you to make informed decisions about your funding.
- Explore flexibility and be creative when thinking about your NDIS funding. Explore different service providers, innovative technologies, and community-based supports that align with your preferences and lifestyle. Remember, the goal is to achieve the best possible outcomes for you.
- Review and adjust your needs regularly if needed. As your needs and circumstances change so should your NDIS plan. If needs and circumstances change sooner know you can request a plan review to discuss these changes. Stay proactive in managing your plan as this will allow you to get the most out of your plan.
